The power supply in the child from 1 to 5 years


Children at this stage of development, have caloric needs important, that every day should always be respected.

Each food that is introduced in the diet of our child provides a particular amount of sugar, fat and protein and consequently a certain amount of calories; from this it follows that in the feeding of a child from 1 to 5 years foods must be inserted in a balanced way.


Following a statement of calories needed by children in this age group, starting from the calculation according to which 1 gram of fat provides 9 calories and 1 g carbohydrate, 1 g of sugar and 1 g of protein each provide 4 kcal.

Daily calorie needs:

    1 year 1000 calories
    Two years from 1100 to 1300 calories
    Three years from 1300 to 1400 calories
    Four years from 1400 to 1500 calories
    Five years from 1500 to 1700 calories

These data represent average values, much depends on the size, the fact that they go to school and make such motor activities and where they are at.

A common place to debunk
It is not true that children are more beautiful if they are chubby, it is often associated with the health of children with their weight, imagining a chubby child in representing a state of perfect health.
Attention instead to the problems that already at this age can be a beginning of overweight and then school-age can be turned into childhood obesity.


How to present the dishes
The dishes of children must contain normal portions and never excessive, preferably presented in a tempting and challenging, especially if it comes to dishes of vegetables, food that must be always very present in the diet of the child, along with the fruit.
Just as you need to give the right blend of protein sources of animal origin, better to prefer the alternating lean fish that is rich in Omega3.
When the baby is satiated and manifests, not go along with other proposed food, then try to get to know and satisfy those who are its real needs and requirements.

The importance of correct meals
Breakfast is the moment most important food of the day, never skip it, especially in this age group. Better to learn to make it stimulating and above all get used to it in the family, or all together.
If at lunch you can not be all at home, at least the dinner should be done always with mom and dad, to strengthen the bonds of affection that the food pass.
Then remember to turn off the TV while we eat, we can communicate more and pay attention to our puppies!

A snack
Prefer snacks of fruit, yogurt, fresh milk of high quality, bread and jam or bread and honey, that healthy foods with less preservatives possible. Read the labels of the foods you buy it will really help mothers to make more informed choices. Prefer water to sugary drinks which, if consumed in excess, can cause problems now known and unfortunately validated by scientific research, such as diabetes, which can also occur in childhood (type 1 diabetes).
